Little Clem Cristoff is a grade 4 boy, the kind of kid that is always causing trouble at school, the kind the teacher has to find something interesting for him to read so he learns to read, the kind of kid that is the first to throw up his hand in class but are afraid to ask because his answer is likely attached to a swear word or sexual reference. In this case the field trip to the Bonnechere Caves with the stories of exploration, cave formations and fossils was so stimulating to young Clem that he produced a poem so worthy that it went up on the bulletin board in the hallway fir the whole school to see that his self esteem shot through the roof and had an impact on his attitude to learning and education and his life for years to come.
