A Killaloe Craft Fair
"Fun" Raiser Coming Soon
~Sunday, July 12th, 2009~

Remember when?

Those were the good old daze, when you could get a refreshing cup of Yellow Snow at the Pyramid bar while Washboard Hank led a troop of colour from the day area to the main stage.

If you have recently been to the Fairgrounds, you will notice straight off that the Pyramid Bar is not longer looking over the Main Stage. This is not your memory playing tricks on you. Unrelenting, as time always is, the shell and the structure gave way a few years back, creating yet another community project in the demolition and clean up of the infamous Pyramid Bar. You may also notice several other weather-worn structures, and leaning lamp posts and that the Main Stage is in the process of being deconstructed..

The Killaloe Fair Stage

Most of all, when and if you were at the Fair Grounds, at this very moment, you'd undoubtedly be flooded with memories, balloons and bubbles, music and friends, stars and moonlit dancing…and the kids – all those kids had so much fun!

One kid, Russell Leon (Hersen) had so much fun that, in light of the current Fair Grounds Needs, is graciously coming home with his six-piece band, horns and all, to create a spark for the Killaloe Fair with their music. Russell grew up in Killaloe (he was one of those carefree hippie kids), and later as a young adult did many solo performances and was the Killaloe Fair Emcee back in the nineties. The Russell Leon Band is currently in the studio, working with producer Tino Zolfo(Finger Eleven, Ashley MacIssac) on their third Cd and touring across Ontario.

When Russell heard that the Fairgrounds needed a cash injection, he said,”Oh my God. The Killaloe Fair.” And with a little bit of good old Killaloe magic, The Russell Leon Band will be appearing at near Killaloe on Sunday, July 12th, 2009, for a 4pm show. Due to the unsafe conditions at the Fair Site, the concert will be hosted at Echo Farm. The Warped 45s may be jumping on board this Killaloe ‘Fun’ Raiser, which will include an open jam with host, Tom Martel, to showcase local musicians, following the concert.

Although the show will be free, it is hoped that people will support the Killaloe Fair by getting their memberships, making dontations or offering suggestions or assistance to help Re-site the Killaloe Fair.
